Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Day 3 is upon the District 7 Legion Baseball Tournament and will feature 3 loser out games and the semifinals in the winners bracket. All Edgeley, LaMoure, Lisbon, and Oakes games can be heard on KDDR The Tornado. Results will be posted below as games go final.

Game 9 (Loser Out): #2 Edgeley 11-1 #5 Wahpeton – 5 inn

Edgeley dominated after struggling early to end Wahpetons season. The game started with Wahpeton loading the bases but not scoring in the first then striking first in the 2nd off of a hit. Edgeley would respond with 2 in the 2nd off of 3 hits t0 take a lead and they wouldn’t look back. They’d score 4 more in the 3rd off of a hit and an error, 1 more in the 4th off of a hit, and 4 more to end it in the 5th off of 5 hits.

Austin Strobel got the win going 5 innings pitched giving up 3 hits, 1 walk, and 1 run. He’d also go 3/3 from the plate with 5 rbi’s.

Wahpeton’s season comes to an end. Edgeley plays later today against the Lidgerwood/Hankinson for a shot at the semifinals tomorrow.

Game 10 (Loser Out): #4 Lidgerwood/Hankinson 1-0 #6 Oakes 

Lidgerwood/Hankinson would keep their season alive after a hard fought pitchers dual. The game started with 8 straight outs before Oakes got the first hit in the 2nd, nothing would happen of the hit. Lidgerwood/Hankinson would also get their first hit in the 2nd and load the bases with 1 out before Max Walock struck out the next 2 batters. There would be no more then 1 base runner in an inning till the top of the 7th when Oakes would get a man on 1st and 2nd with 1 out before Matthew Bladow would buckle down and get the next 2 batters to fly out. L/H would get the bases loaded with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th when Jace Stenson would line a hard hit ball towards the 2nd basemen who couldn’t make the tough cross body catch to end the game with a walk off single.

The winning pitcher was Matthew Bladow who through a complete game shutout allowing only 5 hits and striking out 3. Walock for Oakes would get the loss going 6.1 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run while striking out 9. Neither pitcher threw more then 100 pitches with Bladow throwing only 55 pitches and Walock throwing 97.

Oakes’ season comes to a close. Lidgerwood/Hankinson advance to play Edgeley in Game 11 for a shot at the semifinals.

Game 11 (Loser Out): #2 Edgeley 3-2 #4 Lidgerwood/Hankinson – 10 inn

Edgeley would walk off Lidgerwood/Hankinson via wild pitch to win the game 3-2. The scoring would start in the 4th with a run off of some small ball and Matthew Bladow coming in on a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead. That lead would hold all the way to the 7th when Brady Hanson would single then Dylan Carlson would get an infield hit. Hanson wouldn’t stop running and the throw from Mason Mauch to 3rd was off target so Hanson decided to come home. The throw from Jarret Frederickson would be on time but the slide from Hanson would knock the ball free from Cooper Bolls glove tying the game at 1-1. L/H and Edgeley would both score runs in the 8th to keep it tied. Edgeley would then get 2 lead off singles in the bottom of the 10th followed by a fielders choice to advance Damien Carlson to 3rd. He would come home as Frederickson, pitching in relief, would fall off the mound throwing a wild pitch resulting in the 3-2 walk off victory.

The winning pitcher was Brady Hanson who went 2 innings pitched giving up 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 2 in his relief appearance.

L/H’s season comes to an end. Edgeley will play the winner of game 12 tomorrow at 4:30 pm in the semifinals.

Game 12: #1 Lisbon 0-1 #3 LaMoure

LaMoure returns once again to the District 7 Championship game after knocking off the #1 seed. The 1 and only run came in the first inning after Blase Isaacson walked, got to 3rd on an E1 from a pick off, and was driven in by Conner Johnson. The closest Lisbon would get would be in the 3rd with 2 on in scoring position with 1 out. Wyatt Olson would drive a ball to center field which would be caught by Owen Lesko. Lincoln Adair would tag and come home however the throw would be perfect to get the out and end the inning. Lisbon would not get a man to 3rd for the rest of the game.

The winning pitcher would be Max Musland who pitched a complete game shutout allowing 5 hits and striking out 1.

LaMoure continues to defend their District 7 Title while Lisbon has to play Edgeley tomorrow for a chance to play at the State Tournament.
