Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.c0m) – The District 7 Legion Baseball Tournament continued into day 2 on Tuesday with 2 loser out games and 2 quarterfinal games. All Edgeley, LaMoure, Lisbon, and Oakes games can be heard on KDDR The Tornado. Results will be posted below as games go final.
Game 5 (Loser Out): #5 Wahpeton 3-2 #8Fairmount
Game 6 (Loser Out): #6 Oakes 4-3 #7 Enderlin
Oakes survived and advanced by beating Enderlin 4-3 off of a walk off walk in the 7th inning. The game started with Enderlin scoring a run in the 1st off of 2 hits and an error to take a 1-0 lead. Oakes would respond with a run of their own that James Throener would manufacture by stealing 2nd and 3rd then advancing home on a throwing error by the catcher to tie it up 1-1. Enderlin and Oakes would both score again in the 2nd to make it 2-2. Enderlin would retake the lead in the 5th after loading the bases and getting a single to take a 3-2 lead. Oakes would again tie it up in the 6th off of a wild pitch. They would then walk it off in the 7th off of a walk to Roerich winning 4-3.
The winning pitcher was Max Walock who went 1.1 IP with striking out 3.
Oakes advances on to play the winner of Game 7 tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Enderlin’s season comes to a close.
Game 7: #1 Lisbon 17-1 #4 Lidgerwood/Hankinson – 5 inn
Lisbon continued their dominance as they continued to fly high. Lidgerwood/Hankinson would strike first scoring 1 run off of 2 hits in the 1st, that’d be all the scoring however. Lisbon would score 3 runs off of 3 hits and an error in the 1st, 6 runs off of 4 hits and an error in the 2nd, 4 runs off 4 hits in the 3rd, and 4 runs off of 3 hits and 2 errors in the 4th.
The winning pitcher was Jordyn Bittner going 3 IP giving up 3 hits and 1 run while getting 1 strike out.
Lidgerwood/Hankinson now goes to the loser out bracket to play against Oakes tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Lisbon goes to the semifinals where they will play LaMoure tomorrow at 7:00 pm.
Game 8: #2 Edgeley 2-4 #3 LaMoure
LaMoure advanced to the semis in a pitchers duel that saw a grand total of 23 strikeouts combined. LaMoure would strike first in the 1st inning scoring 2 runs off 3 hits. They would strike again in the 4th scoring 2 runs off 3 hits again. Edgeley would score 1 run off of a hit and an error in the 6th and another in the 7th off of 2 hits but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Owen Lesko got the win going all 7 innings allowing 7 hits, 1 walk, and 2 runs of which 1 was earned while striking out 11. Jacob Nitschke gets the loss in spite of his terrific outing he also through a complete game allowing 8 hits and 4 runs of which 3 were earned while striking out 12.
LaMoure returns to a semifinal against Lisbon for back to back years playing against them at 7:00 pm tomorrow. Edgeley falls to the loser out bracket where they play Wahpeton at 11:30 am tomorrow.
