Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The District 7 Legion Baseball Tournament began in Oakes today, July 22nd with the first round. You can catch all Edgeley, LaMoure, Lisbon, and Oakes games on KDDR The Tornado. Results will be posted as games go final.

Game 1 – #1 Lisbon Post 7 14-0 #8 Fairmount Post 106 – 5 inn

Lisbon got rocking early as they would score 2 runs in the 1st off of 3 hits, 8 runs off 3 hits in the 2nd, and 4 more off of 2 hits in the 3rd to take the 14-0 commanding victory over Fairmount.

Lisbon rode a great hitting performance from Grady Wehlander who had 4 rbi’s going 2/2 with a sac fly. They also had  a great pitching performance as they’d only allow 2 Fairmount runners all game long throwing a combined no hitter with Lincoln Adair getting the win.

Lisbon will play tomorrow against Lidgerwood/Hankinson at 4:30 while Fairmount goes to the loser out bracket against Wahpeton at 11:30 tomorrow.

Game 2 – #4 Lidgerwood/Hankinson 4-3 #5 Wahpeton Jrs 

Game 3 – #2 Edgeley 5-4 #7 Enderlin 

Edgeley survived and advanced against Enderlin surviving a late surge to win 5-4. Edgeley would 1 run in the first off of 1 hit. Enderlin would tie it up in the 2nd scoring 1 run off of 3 hits. Edgeley would reclaim the lead in the 3rd scoring 2 runs off of 2 hits to take a 3-1 lead. They would extend the lead in the 5th scoring 2 more runs off of 3 hits to take a 5-1 lead. Enderlin wouldn’t be out though as they’d rally with 2 outs to score 3 runs to bring it back to 5-4 and to load the bases. They wouldn’t be able to capitalize however and Edgeley would survive and advance.

The winning pitcher was Drew Thorpe going 5 innings pitched allowing 5 hits, 3 walks, and 1 run while striking out 7. The loss would go to Jacob Cimbura who threw all 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 1 walk, and 5 runs while striking out 7.

Edgeley will now play against LaMoure at 7:00 tomorrow while Enderlin will play at 2:00 against Oakes in a loser out game.

Game 4 #3 LaMoure 4-0 #6 Oakes 

Mason Warcken pitched a gem of a game to lead LaMoure to a shut-out victory over Oakes. LaMoure would score 2 runs in the 1st off of 3 hits, they’d score an unearned run in the 3rd off of a hit and an error, and another unearned run in the 4th off of a hit and an error to take the 4-0 lead. Oakes would only get 3 hits in the game.

Warcken would get the complete game shut-out going all 7 innings allowing only 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7.

LaMoure advances to play Edgeley in tomorrow’s night game at 7:00 pm. Oakes will play in a loser out game at 2:00 pm.
