post-60-baseball

Valley City Post 60 and Kindred were locked in a tight battle that saw the game enter the seventh inning with the score at 3-2 in favor of the Vikings. However, a series of Valley City mistakes and soft hits allowed the Vikings to put up nine runs in the top of the seventh to take a 12-2 lead going into the bottom half.

Valley City would battle back with two outs in the seventh, pushing across three runs of their own. However, the game would eventually end after Ethan Miller hit a lineout to center field for the final out of the game as Kindred won 12-5. All three outs in the seventh inning for Valley City were lineouts, with the most disappointing being a diving catch in center field that robbed Corbyn Powell of at least a triple.

The bottom of the Valley City order, however, was prolific at getting on base, with James Schwehr, Andrew Sykora, and Carver Pederson getting on base in eight of their twelve ABs and driving in three of the Royals’ five runs.

The play-in round of the regional tournament will be on July 24th in Fargo at Jack Williams Stadium. The entirety of Valley City’s run can be heard on 1490 AM/ 96.3 FM KOVC.
