VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPD) – Over the past few months the Valley City Police Department has partnered with City-County Health District conducting compliance checks on businesses who hold alcohol licenses within Valley City.

Police Chief Nick Horner said during these compliance checks Officers utilize underage individuals who attempt to purchase alcohol.

The Valley City Police Department completes compliance checks to ensure good business practices and promote responsible drinking within the city. He said all establishments within Valley City holding an alcohol licenses were checked. After the compliance checks were conducted only 25% of the establishments passed. The establishments who did not pass the alcohol compliance checks will receive a first violation and receive a $300 administrative penalty. The licensee will receive a written notice of probation period for up to 24 Months. The Valley City Police Department plans on continuing conducting compliance checks a few times a year going into the future to promote good business practices.

Horner said business’s who hold Alcohol Licenses are required to have their employees who mix, serve, or pour alcoholic beverages during the course of their regular work requirements attend a city approved server training program.

The Valley City Police Department teaches a server training program quarterly. People can register for the program by coming into the police department and signing up. An online server training program can be reached on the Valley City website under the Police Department at valleycity.us
