DEVILS LAKE- Hudson Schmitz tossed a complete game four-hitter, and the offense did just enough as Carrington picked up a 5-2 win over the Devils Lake Storm at DLYA Field on Friday afternoon.
Post 25 (13-3) got started immediately as Jack Erickson and Grady Shipman each reached and scored in the first without the benefit of a hit for a 2-0 lead. Devils Lake would answer with single runs in the second and third to tie the game at 2.
But in the fourth, Carrington scored three times on just one hit, with Erickson, Shipman, and Owen Hagel crossing the plate for a 5-2 lead they would not relinquish. Schmitz gave up two runs, both earned, while walking four and striking out five in his longest outing of the summer to pick up the win.
Carrington are back in action Tuesday at Kidder County with coverage beginning at 4:45 PM on KDAK The Cardinal.
