JAMESTOWN – Excellent West Fargo defense and rain combined to make for a frustrating day for the Jamestown Eagles.

West Fargo blanked Jamestown 4-0 Tuesday in the first game of a scheduled Legion baseball doubleheader at Jack Brown Stadium.  The second game was postponed after a brief rain made the field unplayable.

West Fargo (18-9, 7-2) ended each of the first three innings with double plays.  Patriot centerfielder Caleb Duerr also threw out Jaxon Kolpin at the plate and made a running catch on a line drive by Tyson Jorissen.

After having just one hit in the first three innings, West Fargo scored three runs on three hits, a walk and an error in the fifth inning, just a half-inning after Jamestown (8-12, 3-10) left the bases loaded.

Thomas Newman (2-3) pitched six and a third innings for the Eagles, allowing five hits and recording one strikeout.

Kolpin, Bennett Goehner, Nate Walz and Isaac Webster had singles for Jamestown.

Tuesday’s scheduled second game will be made up on a date to be determined.
