VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NDHP) – A Jamestown woman was injured in a crash on Interstate 94 one mile west of Valley City on Monday, July 1st around 6:33 am.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind said 33-year-old Kelsie Schaack was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500
westbound on I-94 when the vehicle left the road and struck the cable median barrier. After striking the cable barrier, the Dodge crossed the eastbound lanes of I-94 and entered the south ditch, coming to rest in the ditch. Schaack struck the cable barrier at the end of the section west of Valley City. Because the cable barrier ended, Schaack’s vehicle was able to cross the median at the end of the barrier.

He said Schaack was improperly wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. She had the lap belt across her lap, but shoulder strap was placed behind her seat.

Schaack was transported by Barnes County Ambulance to CHI Mercy Health in Valley City. She was treated and released for her injuries. She was cited for Failure to maintain proper lane.

Agencies Involved: North Dakota Highway Patrol, Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes County Ambulance, and Valley City Fire Department.
