Alten Clinton Torgerson was born on June 5,1952 in Powers Lake, ND to Clinton and Amie Torgerson and lost his battle with cancer on June 26, 2024.

Alten was a free spirit with a generous and loving outlook on life. As a child he was adventurous and enjoyed riding horses and getting into mischief on the farm with his brothers Cary and Roger.

Alten grew up on the family farm in McGregor where he was taught hard work, family values and a love for God.  He was athletic and loved to play basketball.

He met his first wife Donnette Larson, and they were married in December 1972 prior to being stationed overseas in Korea.  Alten and Donnette lived in Korea for a year before having their first child Michelle in Fort Hood Texas.  They later had one son Brett and settled in Berthold ND where they ran a service station A & D service.  Alten loved his time in Berthold where he made many lifelong friends.

In 1991 Alten and Donnette divorced and closed their business.  He then returned to his first love of moving dirt. He went to work at Gratech and this would be his passion until he retired in 2016.  While working for Gratech, he met the love of his life Christie while working on a highway by Sanborn, ND. She was working at the restaurant he frequented, and he loved visiting with her. They were married on January 10, 2004, and together they raised Ashley and Aubrey in their home in Sanborn, ND. After his retirement in 2016, he spent his final years enjoying his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Christie, daughter Michelle Heitlland, son Brett Torgerson, Daughter Ashley (Dave) Vaughn and Daughter Aubrey (Jeff) LaRocque, brother Roger (Stef) Torgerson, brother-in-law Steven Blumler, 12 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Amie Torgerson, mother-in-law Darlene Blumler, Brother and sister-in-law Cary (Colleen) Torgerson, and brother-in-law Eugene Blumler.
