VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPD) – The Valley City Police Department (VCPD) said two people were arrested after an armed robbery was reported on Thursday, June 27th. Officers responded to the 200 block of College Street Southeast at about 6:30pm where they met two victims who had been involved in an altercation.

The victims told police they had been assaulted by the suspects and money was taken from them. It was reported that a firearm was brandished and threats were made toward the victims before the suspects fled the area.

North Dakota Highway Patrol responded and tracked down the suspects to a home in Sanborn, North Dakota.

Law enforcement issued a shelter in place order to the residents of Sanborn and a perimeter was set up around the house. Initially, the suspects refused to respond to authorities but eventually, both came out voluntarily and were taken into custody with further incident..

The two suspects have been identified as Richard Schermer of Sanborn and Cheyenne Woodward of Valley City. The two are facing charges of robbery and terrorizing. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Valley City Police Department at 845-3110.
