Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – A pop up to Michael Hoistad ended the game for Oakes as they capped off a 11-6 victory over the Lisbon, the first in a couple years. As Hoistad caught it the Oakes benched poured onto the field with jubilation, celebrating their biggest victory of the year and capping off a 4-4 start to the season.

Lisbon would strike first in the first inning scoring a run off of a single then a double to give themselves a 1-0 lead through one inning of play as they would put the Tornadoes down 1-2-3. Oakes would come back in the bottom of the 2nd as they’d score 5 runs on 3 hits with 2 outs. Lisbon would respond with a run of their own in the 3rd to cut the lead to 5-2 through 3.

Oakes would not be denied as they would score 2 more runs in the 4th to bring the lead back to 5 after a Hoistad 2 rbi double, his second of the game. Lisbon’s best offensive inning in the 5th as they’d score 3 runs off 5 hits to bring the deficit down to 2 runs as Oakes would hold the 7-5 lead. Oakes would then put the game away in the bottom of the 6th as they scored 4 runs off of 3 hits in the inning to take the 11-5 lead.

Lisbon would load the bases in the 7th and score a run off of of a couple errors but they’d leave them loaded as Oakes would finish the inning and win the game 11-6.

The winning pitcher was Michael Hoistad who went 6.1 IP giving up 10 hits, 2 walks, 6 runs of which 5 were earned while striking out 3. The losing pitcher would be Kashden Wadeson who went 2.2 IP giving up 3 hits, 3 walks, and 5 runs all of which were earned while striking out 2.

The Bank North Players of the Game were Hoistad and James Throener.
