JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police responded early Monday morning to the report of a stolen 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup. The vehicle, taken overnight from the 900 block of 2 Ave NE, had the key left inside.
At 8:03 a.m., a Stutsman County Drug Task Force deputy identified the stolen Silverado among two suspicious vehicles in southwest Jamestown. The deputy located the Silverado in the 200 block of 17 Ave SW, occupied by two male juveniles. The second vehicle fled the scene.
Jamestown Police assisted in taking the two male juveniles into custody. Shortly after, at 8:05 a.m., officers found the second suspicious vehicle, a 2019 Chrysler 300, near the 1100 block of 18 St SW. After conducting a high-risk traffic stop at the intersection of 18 St SW and 8 Ave SW, a female juvenile and a male juvenile were taken into custody. The Chrysler, also stolen, was recovered and its owner contacted.
Investigations revealed the four juveniles were acquainted, with three collaborating in a burglary of a farmstead in rural Eldridge, ND. Evidence indicated that at least two of the juveniles had entered multiple vehicles in Jamestown from late Sunday through Monday morning, with stolen items found in both vehicles. The targeted areas are believed to include the Northwest and Northeast quadrants of Jamestown, though other areas may have been affected.
Two early-teen male juveniles face charges including burglary, possession of stolen property, theft of motor vehicles, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and minor in possession of alcoholic beverages. A teenage female juvenile faces charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and minor in possession of alcoholic beverages. The third male juvenile was interviewed and released to his parent.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible. Residents who had their vehicles entered or items stolen are urged to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 701-252-1000.
