NEW ROCKFORD- Two tight district 4 games between old rivals were split on Thursday, as Carrington split with Sheyenne-New Rockford, winning game one 5-3 in nine innings before falling 5-4 in the nightcap.
In the opener, a pitchers dual ensued between Easton Simon and Grady Shipman, with Post 25 leading 1-0 after five. But in the sixth, Kyle Johnson drove home an unearned run for a 2-0 lead. After the Black Sox cut it to 2-1, Ryder Bickett launched a solo home run to left to make it 3-1 in the seventh. However, in the bottom half, a throwing error scored two and sent the game to extra innings.
In the ninth, Shipman delivered the go-ahead two-run double that was decisive as he picked up the win on the mound. Kael Kovar earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
In game two, Jacob Boeshans tossed four innings of one-run ball before Post 30 rallied for four runs in the last of the fifth to pick up the win.
