VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Earlier this year, Valley City State University (VCSU) announced the official naming of the new Center for the Arts as the Larry J. Robinson Center for the Arts to honor Robinson’s long and successful career at VCSU and as a legislator. Robinson will retire from VCSU after 49 years on the campus
During a building dedication, VCSU President Alan LaFave and former VCSU President Steven Shirley, now the current President of Minot State both said his career, achievements and legacy are worthy of this recognition.
Larry Robinson said several people at the university and across the state made this state-of-the-art facility possible to be built in Valley City not just one individual.
Robinson served as a member of the North Dakota Legislature as a senator for District 24 from 1988 to 2019. His leadership helped facilitate funding for a new Veterans’ Home in Lisbon, flood protection for communities along the Sheyenne River Valley and for the new VCSU Center for the Arts. The $32 million building was officially opened for students in the spring of 2022.
A public celebration for the Larry J. Robinson Center for the Arts was held on Monday, June 10th.
