VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPS) – This past fall, the Jefferson Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) created a goal to raise $300,000 for the playground at Jefferson Elementary. The funds raised from sponsorships and donations would be
used to update playing surfaces and improve student safety on the playground. With the generous sponsors and donations from within our community, as well as the fundraising efforts by our Jefferson Elementary School students, the PTO is excited to announce that they have reached their goal of raising $300,000. A premiere donation of $75,000 for playground naming rights was given by J & S Marketing, owner John Stearns.

Jefferson Elementary PTO President, Kyla Fetsch shared her appreciation and excitement on behalf of the students, parents, and the PTO at Jefferson Elementary, “We are so grateful for the support that we have received from the community for this project. The upgrades to the playground have been much-needed for many years and the PTO is excited to be involved in helping to provide students with a safe and fun place to play.” Fetsch added that in addition to recognizing J & S Marketing for their contribution, they will be recognizing sponsors and donations at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the beginning of the school year. A sign recognizing the sponsorships and donations will be displayed at the new, south entrance to the playground.

The project is expected to begin soon and will be ready for students when they return for the 2024-2025 school year. More information on a ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with updates and project photos, will be shared throughout the summer.
