VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Parks and Recreation (VCPR) is excited to announce that they are partnering with the Valley City Optimist Club to host the 42nd Annual Bill Jansen Road Race/Walk! on June 15th at Charlie Brown field. This event will be fun for all ages, allowing individuals to experience community, promote health and fitness, and honor the legacy of the late Bill Jansen.
Originally started in 1981 by Bill Jansen and the Valley City Optimist Club, this race, originally titled “The Optimist Club Road Race/Walk,” was run by Bill for many years until his passing in 2003 from Leukemia. To honor his dedication and passion, the race was renamed in his honor and serves as both a beloved annual tradition and tribute.
Join us to celebrate health, fitness, and community by taking part in any of the divisions available at this race: Divisions (male and female)
• Miler (12 and under)
• 5K (13+)
• 10K(Open)
Prices for admission to the event are: $5 for Miler category (12 and under), $10 for the walker category, $20 for individuals, and $50 for families. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome! Registration for the race will take place at 7:00 AM on June 15th at Charlie Brown Field with the race starting after 8:00 AM.
