FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller said as she attends Town Hall meetings across the state during her gubernatorial campaign many state residents would like to see their property taxes reduced.
Miller said she’s on board looking for a way to reform property taxes in the state. But she doesn’t believe eliminating property taxes altogether is the answer. Miller said if the initiated measure makes it to the ballot and passes, local governing bodies will lose local control and other existing taxes would increase to fill the void.
Miller is in a heated primary battle with Kelly Armstrong, both are seeking to be the North Dakota Republican candidate for Governor. The winner in the June 11th primary will be placed on the November 5th ballot as the North Dakota GOP candidate.
