VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The Hi-Liner softball team will begin it’s Eastern Dakota Conference tournament run Tuesday.

Valley City received the seventh-seed with an 8-12 league record.  They finished tied for sixth place, and lost the tiebreaker with Fargo Shanley.

The Hi-Liners face second-seed West Fargo Tuesday at 5:30 PM.  The tournament continues at Mickelson Fields in north Fargo Friday and Saturday.  A team must win teams games before losing two in order to qualify for the state softball tournament.

Valley City picked up wins over Fargo South, Grand Forks Central, Devils Lake, and Fargo Davies.  Devils Lake finished 10-10, and are the five-seed in the tournament.  Davies is the eight seed.  South and Central did not qualify for the tournament.

The Hi-Liners were beaten by 12-0 by the Packers in their lone meeting, which was in early April.
