Noadias Gurrola Astorga (Known as Noah) passed away peacefully from this world on May 2, 2024.

Noadias Gurrola Astorga, affectionately known as Noah in his community, was born on September 22, 1959, in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Noah was preceded in death by his sister, Maria Gonzala, and his parents, Martina Gurrola and Antonio Astorga. He was the youngest of seven siblings. At the tender age of 2, Noah’s family relocated to Pedro Celestino Negrete in the state of Durango, Mexico, where he spent his formative years. He attended Elementary School, "Escuadron 201," until the 6th grade. At the age of 16, he embarked on a journey, immigrating to the United States. His first job was as a dishwasher at a restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Over the years, Noah ventured into various professions and businesses, leading him to reside in Arizona before eventually settling in Nome, North Dakota, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Noah found his passion in the culinary arts and became renowned for his talent in the kitchen. He dedicated himself to his craft, eventually opening his own restaurant, Maria Maria in Lisbon, North Dakota and eventually another in Valley City, North Dakota, renamed as La Cita where he delighted patrons with his delicious cuisine.

Noah is survived by his brothers, Humberto, Jesus, Fidencio and Oscar, and his sisters, Teresa, Eunice, and Ruth, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that cared for him.

A memorial service to celebrate Noah’s life will be held at 10:30 am on May 25th at the Oliver Nathan Funeral Chapel in Valley City, North Dakota. Those unable to attend in person may pay their respects and leave condolences in the online guestbook at olivernathanchapel.com
