VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPS) – Valley City Public Schools (VCPS) is excited to announce the hiring of Mrs. Riley Van Peursem as the new Choir/Band Director at Valley City High School. Mrs. Van Peursem will officially begin her role on August 19, 2024.

Van Peursem grew up in LaMoure, ND, and has taught in several North Dakota schools, all in band and choir teaching positions. Before that, she attended Valley City State University, where her love for teaching music bloomed and flourished throughout her college career. She has BS in Music Education.

Van Peursem has a strong desire to be a part of the Valley City community. She said, “It is my great joy and honor to dive into that desire and be a trustworthy, hard-working, and dedicated teacher, colleague, and friend to all I will have the privilege to work with.”

Van Peursem lives in Valley City with her husband, Johnathon, one-year old daughter Mara, and her golden doodle Mabel.
