JAMESTOWN – The Blue Jays ended the WDA softball regular season with one tough game, then a gem.
Dickinson had 24 base runners in a 12-1 rout of Jamestown in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday at Trapper Lawrence Field. The Blue Jays answered in the second game with a two-hit shutout by Maddie Hoff in a 2-0 win.
Game 1: Dickinson 12, Jamestown 1
Dickinson had 12 hits and 12 walks, scoring two in the first inning on their way to an easy win. Braelynn Farnsworth had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI. Ava Jahner struck out nine in a complete game win and homered.
Avery Graves hit a second-inning home run for the only run for Jamestown (16-10, 11-8 WDA).
Game 2: Jamestown 2, Dickinson 0
Hoff (9-4) was brilliant in the circle, striking out 10 and walking just one.
Jordan Mikkelson gave the Blue Jays (17-10, 12-8) their first run with a second inning single. Graves homered again to double the lead in the sixth inning.
Jamestown will close the regular season Thursday with a non-conference doubleheader at West Fargo.
