CARRINGTON- In their final home game of the 2024 season, the Carrington Cardinals scored seven in the first inning and never looked back in a 14-1, five inning win.
After Josh Bickett led off the first with a walk, Grady Shipman turned on a fastball and sent it out to right for his second HR of the season. Ethan Roller and Bickett added RBIs as Carrington (9-9) sent twelve to the plate in the first.
That was, unsurprisingly, more than enough for Shipman (2 IP, 0 H, BB, 5 K) and Owen Hagel (3 IP, H, ER, 3 BB, 5 K; 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBI) as the Cardinals used the game to stay sharp for the upcoming Region III Tournament on Monday in Steele, where they will be the 1-seed.
The Cardinals wrap up the regular season on Thursday at Dakota Prairie before playing at approximately 12:30 PM on Monday against the winner of Thursday’s (5) LaMoure-LM at (4) South Border game, which can be heard at 4:45 PM Thursday on Thunder 98.3.
