JAMESTOWN – Jamestown High School Baseball’s bid to avoid the WDA play-in game is still alive, but took a hit on Tuesday.

Jamestown won its fifth straight conference game with a 6-3 win over Bismarck in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Demons came back for an 8-3 win in the second game at Jack Brown Stadium.

Game 1: Jamestown 6, Bismarck 3

Kaiden Hakanson had a sacrifice fly and RBI single for the Blue Jays (6-9, 6-7 WDA).

Adam Sortland (2-2) won his second straight start, allowing just three hits and striking out four.

Thomas Newman, Brody Wolff and Braxton Perkins also drove in run.

Game 2: Bismarck 8, Jamestown 3

Aidan Rakowski hit a two-run triple and pitched a complete game for Bismarck.

Jaxon Kolpin drove in two runs for Jamestown (6-10, 6-8).  Newman was four-for-four.  Bennett Goehner drove in the other run for the Blue Jays.

Jamestown will play at Williston in a doubleheader on Thursday.  A sweep would clinch a sixth-place finish for the Blue Jays and have them avoid playing in a play-in game on Monday.
