VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Sarah Lerud, Junior/Senior High School Librarian, has been selected as the Valley City Public Schools 2024 Teacher of the Year.

Superintendent Josh Johnson said since joining the school district in 2004, Sarah has been a cornerstone of the Hi-Liner educational community. Sarah’s hard work, kindness, and genuine spirit have made her a go-to problem solver for students, staff, and parents in our school district. She has created a warm and welcoming place in the Junior/Senior High School for all students. Sarah has a positive attitude and kind heart that resonates throughout our school district.

Valley City High School coach and teacher Matt Nielson said Sarah goes the extra mile for students and teachers.

In addition to her roles as a librarian and media specialist, Sarah is the president of the Valley City Education Association and a board member of North Dakota United (NDU). She is also actively involved in the North Dakota Library Association and represents teachers across North Dakota helping to address the needs of school facilities on the School Construction Coalition.

Sarah was nominated for this honor by her students, colleagues, and parents in the community.
