PARK RIVER- In their first games since clinching the #1 seed in the Region III Tournament, the Cardinals saw late inning struggles cost them in losses to Park River and Thompson
Park River 9 Carrington 4
A five-run sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie as the Aggies surged past the Cardinals. Carrington took an early lead as Josh Bickett singled, stole second, and scored on an Owen Hagel single in the first. The Cardinals added a run in the third and two in the fourth for a 4-3 lead. But Park River tied it in the fourth and scored five runs on two hits with two errors in the decisive sixth.
Thompson 8 Carrington 2
A five-run fifth inning lifted the undefeated, two-time defending Class B champion Tommies to an 8-2 win. Carrington led 2-1 in the third after an RBI triple by Grady Shipman and run-scoring single by Corbin Clifton, but in the fourth, Drew Odenbach tied the game with a Solo HR to left. In the fifth, Brayden Wolfgram launch a Solo HR to left for a 3-2 lead in an inning where Thompson would score five times.
Carrington is back in action Tuesday, hosting Rugby with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 4:15 PM, weather permitting.
