JAMESTOWN – Pitching and defense didn’t help Jamestown Blue Jay Softball Thursday.
Bismarck Legacy took two games from Jamestown 12-7 and 10-2 at Trapper Lawrence Field.
Game 1: Bismarck Legacy 12, Jamestown 7
Six runs in the fifth inning helped Legacy grab the lead they would not relinquish. Micah Heinemeyer hit a three-run double to give Legacy a 6-4 lead in that big inning. Riley Ingemansen hit a two-run single and Brynn Arnold socked a solo home run for the Sabers.
Sophia Bond and Maddie Hoff had two-run doubles for Jamestown (14-7, 10-5), but Makenna Nold (6-4) struggled in the circle. She struck out 17, but also allowed 12 runs and 14 hits. The Blue Jays committed two errors, one of which extended a three-run rally in the third inning by Legacy.
Game 2: Bismarck Legacy 10, Jamestown 2
Legacy scored nine runs in the last three innings off Hoff (8-3). An error scored the run that broke a 1-1 tie in a four-run fifth inning. Kate LeMoine also singled in two runs.
Arnold homered again, a two-run shot in the sixth.
Hoff allowed 10 runs and 14 hits in seven innings.
Jamestown (14-8, 10-6) managed just four hits against Legacy starter Rawling Borseth (7-4). Torrie Mack hit her sixth home run of the season.
Jamestown will host another WDA doubleheader against Bismarck Saturday at Trapper Lawrence Field.
