carrington1-2

STEELE- Grady Shipman dominated through both games of a Region III doubleheader as the Carrington Cardinals swept aside the Kidder County Wolves on Tuesday evening in a rainy Steele.

Game One- Carrington 19 Kidder County 1 (5 innings)

The Cardinals scored early and often as Corbin Clifton launched a three-run first-inning homer to left as part of a five-run opening frame, which was more than enough for the senior Shipman (3 IP, H, 0 R, 5 K) and Ethan Roller.  The Cardinals would add seven in the third for a 12-0 lead before Shipman launched his own three-run homer in the fourth to make it 15-0.  Carrington would add four run after two outs in the fifth before the Wolves scored in the home half.

Game Two- Carrington 6 Kidder County 0

Shipman started again and dominated again (5.1 IP, 2 H, BB, 12 K) and the Cardinals (8-7, 5-3) used a Corbin Clifton RBI single in the third to take the lead before adding five runs on four hits in the fifth to put the game away.  Clifton was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, 2 steals and 2 runs scored in the game and Tate Wolsky reached three times and scored twice in the win.

Carrington travels to Park River Area on Friday to battle the Aggies and the two-time defending Class B State Champion Thompson Tommies.  Coverage on KDAK The Cardinal begins at 10:45 AM.
