VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season 23 Presents: Joan Bubach Bachman (Author) “OPTIONS UNLIMITED We Have Choices. Life has been good, and I want to share it.” The lecture will be held Thursday, May 16th at 7pm in the Barnes County Museum.

Joan Bubach Bachman (Author) “OPTIONS UNLIMITED We Have Choices. Life has been good and I want to share it.”

This autobiography describes the life of a LaMoure/Barnes County, North Dakota farm girl in the 1940s and ’50s, nursing school in the ’50s, and a professional career in rural health for over four decades including ten years with the South Dakota Department of Health, while being a parent and grandparent, followed by active retirement years. Many individuals and organizations are part of this story with family members being the most important, but not always the central figures. A preference for saying “yes” more often than “no” to options for employment and service led to a variety of settings, each of which contributed to a full life. Lessons learned and shared include the values of a solid nuclear family and solid belief system, consistent acceptance of responsibility, and practice of leadership and delegation. More lessons learned in retirement centered on diversity and equity and need for changes to “the system.” The book title OPTIONS UNLIMITED— We Have Choices intentionally encourages the reader to take advantage of opportunities along life’s path to recognize and use God-given talents.

All Lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum and held in conjunction with Valley City State University. They are free and open to the public. For more information contact Wes Anderson at 701-845-0966
