EDGELEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Each year the North Dakota EMS Association recognizes those individuals who have made significant contributions to the provision, development and improvement to local, regional and state pre-hospital care.
In 2024 we are honored to present the NDEMSA Southeast Region Service of the Year to Edgeley Ambulance Service. The intent of this award is to recognize an EMS service that significantly contributed to the provision, development and
improvement of pre-hospital care and EMS education in their community. Any EMS organization licensed or certified in
the state of North Dakota, including rescue, quick response units, industrial services, etc., is eligible.
A recent call for help was made to their community – Edgeley Ambulance Service, needed more active members to keep the service going and the community respond! They’ve recently had 5 new members complete and pass the NREMT exam, which has helped tremendously in filling all their shifts and taking pressure off the 3-4 very dedicated members working hard to fill all the shifts prior to them joining. Their roster is made up of providers serving over 25 + years to brand new providers and they all work together in providing pre-hospital care, as well as community education. They came together to train their school’s entire staff and students in grades 5-8 in CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed. They held a Community First Aid course this winter where community members learned basic first aid skills and make a first aid kit while doing so to take home. They hold monthly squad meetings and trainings with great participation. They always make time for fun team building activities at their meetings, which is evident when you walk thru their door – there’s always laughter and smiles. They participate in community parades, provide standby coverage at football games and horse shows, and never turn down an opportunity to participate in other community events. They hold “meet and greet” events so the community knows who they are, their recent German meal was a huge success! Just like every squad, they’re not perfect but they’ve definitely put the time and effort in becoming a top-notch crew that their community can count on 24/7.
