JAMESTOWN – Playing on a busy day ahead of weekend rain, Jamestown Jimmie Baseball swept a tripleheader from Hastings Thursday at Jack Brown Stadium 4-1, 6-5 and 5-4 in 8 innings to end the Jimmies’ final regular season in GPAC baseball.
Game 1: Jamestown 4, Hastings 1
Jamestown (26-17, 12-13 GPAC) broke its six-game losing streak behind a two-run home run by Chase Burke and a solo home run by Jordan Singleton.
Avery Liestman (7-1) allowed a run and three hits in five and two-thirds innings for the victory. Ethan Petty induced the last out in the sixth and the first out in the seventh. Hayden Brown retired the last two Hastings hitters for his fourth save.
Game 2: Jamestown 6, Hastings 5
Isaiah Roebuck hit his second home run of the season to break a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Julian Sansores hit a first-inning grand slam for the Jimmies (27-17, 13-13).
Ryan Radkey (4-1) won in relief. Brown worked a perfect seventh inning for his fifth save.
Game 3: Jamestown 5, Hastings 4 (8)
Burke won the game for Jamestown (28-17, 14-13) with a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to complete the sweep.
With two out, RJ Woods and Riki Okamoto both walked. Burke then singled in Sy Steele and Okamoto.
Jack Howard (5-4) earned the win. Burke had three hits.
Friday’s scheduled game with Hastings was cancelled due to rain. The Jimmies will next play Thursday in the first round of the GPAC tournament. Coverage during the tournament will be heard on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1 or Thunder 98.3.
