JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Jimmie Baseball ran into Concordia’s power in the first game, then rallied before falling in the second.
Concordia swept Jamestown in a GPAC doubleheader Monday 4-1 and 6-3 in nine innings at Jack Brown Stadium, extending the Jimmies’ losing streak to six games.
Game 1: Concordia 4, Jamestown 1
Concordia (32-12, 16-7 GPAC), in the top four in the nation in home runs, slammed three in the first game win.
Jaidan Quinn hit his 21st home run in the first, Alex Draper hit another in the fourth and Matthew Rhoades hit his 14th home run in the sixth inning.
Hayden Brown socked his ninth home run in the bottom of the seventh for the only run for Jamestown (25-16, 11-12).
Luke Zimmer (4-3), returning after missing just over two weeks with an injury, allowed two runs and seven hits while striking out eight in four innings.
Game 2: Concordia 6, Jamestown 3 (9)
Concordia (33-12, 17-7) completed the sweep with three runs in the ninth inning on an RBI single by Ty Nekoliczak and a two-run single by Bradley Hallock.
Jamestown (25-17, 11-13) took a 2-0 lead in the home third inning with an RBI double by RJ Woods and an RBI single by Jordan Singleton.
Concordia tallied three in the fourth inning on a Rhoades solo home run and a two-run single by Jayden Adams.
An error scored the tying run for the Jimmies in the fifth.
Payton Hochhalter (0-2), the seventh of eight Jamestown pitchers, gave up the Concordia runs in the ninth inning.
A previously scheduled game at Dickinson State for the Jimmies on Tuesday was cancelled. Jamestown will host Hastings in a doubleheader Friday at Jack Brown Stadium. Coverage will begin at 12:45 PM on Friday on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
