MAYVILLE, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com – Christian Ramirez hit a go-ahead 2-run home run in the 12th inning Saturday afternoon as the Valley City State University baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep at Mayville State.

Tied 6-6 in the 12th inning of game two, Ramirez drilled the first pitch he saw over the left-field fence for the game-winning home run. The Comets put the tying run on the base with two outs in the bottom of the 12th, but Riley Resnick induced a pop up to end the game and secure the sweep.

VCSU won game one 4-1 behind a complete game pitching performance by Hunter Magnuson.

Valley City State is now 16-27 overall and 8-10 in conference play. Mayville State drops to 11-34 overall and 6-15 in the conference. The Vikings are now in a three-way tie for third place in the NSAA standings with both Waldorf and Viterbo.
