JAMESTOWN – Five seniors and all the rest of Jamestown Jimmies Softball had a fine Senior Day.

Jamestown swept Hastings Saturday in the Jimmies’ final regular season home games of 2024, 4-2 and 9-0 inside the Nelson Family Bubble.

Game 1: Jamestown 4, Hastings 2

Hope Ransome (11-4) pitched a complete game four-hitter for the second straight day and Jamestown (25-13, 9-8 GPAC) held on despite leaving 11 runners on base.

Kayla Quintanilla had an RBI single and Mackenzie Lefebvre hit a two-run double in a three-run first inning.

Quintanilla hit a sacrifice fly in the second for the Jimmies’ other run.

Jamestown could possibly have won by run rule, but left the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth innings.

Still, Ransome led with another excellent start, striking out four.

Game 2: Jamestown 9, Hastings 0 (5)

Jamestown (26-13, 10-8) didn’t waste their chances in this game.

Again, the Jimmies scored three first-inning runs.  Sam Martinez singled in Trinity Gregg, who had tripled and Abby Blair had a rare two-run sacrifice fly.

Jamestown then broke the game open with a six-run third on RBI singles by Blair, Fisher and Maddie Spaeth, a Gentrey Turin bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Martinez.

Blair allowed only two first-inning hits while pitching four shutout innings.  Gracie Fisher had a scoreless fifth in her collegiate pitching debut.

The Jimmies will play a doubleheader against Dakota Wesleyan Tuesday in Mitchell, South Dakota.
