JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Jimmie Softball had excellent pitching to win, but then not enough offense.
Jamestown split a doubleheader with Doane Friday inside the Nelson Family Bubble. The Jimmies won the first game 2-1 before the Tigers won 6-3 in the second contest.
Game 1: Jamestown 2, Doane 1
Mackenzie Lefebvre hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Jamestown (24-12, 8-7 GPAC) in front.
Hope Ransome (10-4) pitched a four-hit complete game, striking out six. Doane (11-20, 4-9) had a runner on third with two out in the top of the seventh, but pinch-hitter Payton Cooley struck out to end the game.
Lefebvre had two hits, both doubles.
Game 2: Doane 6, Jamestown 3
Doane (12-20, 5-9) broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fourth inning. Marissa Marquez had an RBI double, Jadyn Hunt hit an RBI double and Grace Dowding capped the rally with a two-run single.
Sam Martinez drove in two runs with a double and a single for Jamestown (24-13, 8-8). Trinity Gregg had an RBI triple.
Sunny Halsey (3-2) allowed five runs and five hits in three and two-thirds innings.
On Senior Day, Jamestown will host Hastings Saturday inside the Nelson Family Bubble. Coverage will begin at 11:45 AM Saturday on Thunder 98.3.
