JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown student Danielle Bjerke is the first recipient of the Dr. Jo-Ida C. Hansen P.E.O. Scholarship, announced P.E.O. Chapter AB of Jamestown. The $5,000 scholarship was established by Hansen, a Jamestown native and University of Jamestown trustee, to benefit a female undergraduate student at the university.
Bjerke was chosen from a field of 20 applicants, all who demonstrated academic persistence and a passion for making a difference for others. Bjerke will graduate in the spring of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. She will further her education in the fall, enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UJ.
Hansen has been a Chapter AB member for more than 50 years. As a professor and researcher in the field of psychology at the University of Minnesota, she believes strongly in the power of education and lifelong learning to further the lives of individuals and promote equity within society.
