Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes were unable to pick up their first win of the season as they couldn’t get hits late in the game falling to the Northern Cass Jaguars 9-2.
The game started well for the Tornadoes as Michael Hoistad struck out three in the opening inning. The Jaguars would score 1 run on an error to give them a 1-0 lead though. The Tornadoes were quick to bounce back with 2 quick hits from James Throener and Chris Titus gave the Tornadoes runners in scoring position when Brogan Roney would ground into a fielders choice to tie the game. That would be followed by a Hoistad double to give Oakes the lead. With 2 outs and Zade Heier running for the Oakes Pitcher, Cooper Quandt would single to right. Heier would round third and dig for home however a perfect throw from Matthew Metzger would get the 3rd out at the plate and end the inning with Oakes up 2-1.
The 2nd inning would see the minimum batters for Northern Cass as Carter Wadeson would hit a lead off double and advance to 3rd on a wild pitch. He would then attempt a straight steal of home but would be tagged out by Titus for the 2nd out of the inning. Oakes would get Noah Wood on with a basehit but leave him stranded at 2nd base. Northern Cass would then score 4 runs off 3 hits in the 3rd inning giving them a 5-2 lead. Oakes would load the bases but couldn’t do anything with it as Deagan Roerhrich hit a line drive to the centerfielder to end the inning.
The next scoring would happen in the 5th as the Jaguars would score another 4 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits and an error to give them the 9-2 lead. Oakes wouldn’t get anyone past second for the rest of the game falling 9-2.
The winning pitcher was Jacob Ose and the losing pitcher was Michael Hoistad.
Christ Titus was the Bank North Player of the Game.
Next up for the Tornadoes will be Kindred/Richland in Kindred on Monday April 22nd. You can catch all the action on KDDR The Tornado.
