MITCHELL, SD – In the second of back-to-back doubleheaders, Jamestown Jimmies Baseball split with Dakota Wesleyan Sunday at Drake Field at Cadwell Park.

DWU scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the first game 7-6 before Jamestown ran away with a 13-3 win in the nightcap.

Game 1: Dakota Wesleyan 7, Jamestown 6

Jamestown (24-11, 10-7 GPAC) had three different leads, but DWU came back from each of them, including scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh.  Caleb Meyers tied the game with an RBI single for the Tigers (15-22, 7-10) before UJ’s Hayden Brown (0-1), pitching in relief, uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Drew Kitchens to score the winning run.

Jett Nelson had given the Jimmies a 6-5 lead with an RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Ryan Muizelaar had a two-run single and Chase Burke hit a two-run triple for Jamestown.

Game 2: Jamestown 13, Dakota Wesleyan 3 (7)

This time, Jamestown (25-11, 11-7) rallied.

Down 3-1 heading into the top of the fourth, the Jimmies evened the game with a two-run homer with one out by Jett Nelson.  On the next pitch, Brown slammed a homer to right and Jamestown never trailed again.

Alex Alva and Burke had RBI doubles in the sixth for a 6-3 UJ lead.

In the seventh, Jamestown put the game out of reach with seven runs, all with two out.  Jackson Bonneville, Isaiah Roebuck, Alva and Chase had RBI singles, followed by a three-run pinch-homer by Ben Swennumson.

Ethan Petty (1-1) earned the relief victory with two and a third scoreless innings and five strikeouts.

Through Sunday, Jamestown and Briar Cliff shared fourth in the GPAC with 11-7 conference records.  Those teams will meet Monday in a doubleheader in Sioux City.  Game one will be featured Monday with coverage starting at 12:45 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
