MITCHELL, SD – In one of two games, the Jimmies needed all the offense they had, but they had plenty twice on Saturday in a doubleheader sweep.
Jamestown Baseball stopped Dakota Wesleyan 8-0 and 13-8 at Drake Field at Cadwell Park.
Game 1: Jamestown 8, Dakota Wesleyan 0
As Avery Liestman again pitched brilliantly, Jamestown (23-10, 9-6 GPAC) extended a 1-0 lead with five runs in the fifth inning, all on home runs. Alex Alva hit a three-run homer and Jordan Singleton blasted a two-run shot. Alva drove in another run with a sixth-inning single and Ben Swennumson had an RBI single in the seventh.
Liestman (6-0) pitched his first shutout as a Jimmie, allowing just two hits and striking out seven.
Game 2: Jamestown 13, Dakota Wesleyan 8
Jamestown (24-10, 9-6) had an early 6-2 lead before Dakota Wesleyan (14-24, 6-12) rallied for a 7-6 lead after five innings.
The game was tied at 8-8 after six before Isaiah Roebuck hit a two-run single in the seventh and the Jimmies led thereafter. Singleton and Jett Nelson had run-scoring singles in the eighth.
Ryan Muizelaar hit a three-run home run in a four-run third.
Jack Howard (4-3) won in relief, with Hayden Brown working the last two innings for his third save.
Jamestown will play another doubleheader at Dakota Wesleyan on Sunday. Coverage will begin at 11:45 AM on Q101.
