JAMESTOWN – The first time playing games in the great outdoors this season was a great time for Jamestown Blue Jay Softball.
The Jays dispatched Minot North in a doubleheader sweep Thursday 22-0 and 16-6 at Trapper Lawrence Field.
Game 1: Jamestown 22, Minot North 0 (5)
14 runs in the first inning decided the game early for Jamestown (3-2, 3-0 WDA). Torrie Mack hit a three-run home run and Lucy Falk hit a grand slam in the frame.
Brooke Jackson hit a two-run homer in a seven-run second inning.
Falk drove in six runs. Mack and Jordan Mikkelson drove in five each.
Makenna Nold struck out eight in a three-hit shutout.
Game 2: Jamestown 16, Minot North 6 (6)
Nold homered, doubled, singled and drove in three runs to lead the Blue Jays (4-2, 4-0). Marissa Moltzen drove in two runs.
Maddie Hoff struck out seven in pitching a complete game.
Cadey Shipman hit two home runs for Minot North (3-4-1, 2-2).
Jamestown will host Bismarck Century on Tuesday at Trapper Lawrence Field.
