VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Under North Dakota Century Code the driver of a vehicle meeting or overtaking from either direction of a school bus stopped on the highway or city street shall stop when the school bus is flashing red lights or the stop sign control arm is extended, the driver may not overtake or pass the school bus.
Valley City Police Chief Nick Horner said the police department has received more calls of motorists violating school bus stop signs.
Horner said they have received five complaints over the last 30 days compared to one or two throughout a normal school year.
