JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department issued a notification to residents Monday regarding a high-risk registered sex offender residing within the city.

Larry Gant, 46, also known as Larry Johnson Jr., was identified as the individual of concern. According to authorities, Gant’s residence is located at 102 4th Ave SW, Jamestown, ND 58401. He drives a white 1997 Ford Expedition with license plate number ND/062CLJ.

Described as a black male with brown eyes and black hair, Gant stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He is said to wear glasses.

Gant has been assigned a high-risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee, Office of the Attorney General. His offense dates back to a conviction of aggravated rape, where he, along with two accomplices, entered a residence through a bedroom window and assaulted a developmentally disabled teenager who was sleeping at the time. The incident occurred on 02/11/2003 in Shelby County District Court, TN, resulting in a sentence of 8 years.

Despite serving his court-imposed sentence, Gant is not currently wanted by law enforcement. However, authorities stress that this notification aims to prioritize public safety without escalating community fear. Residents are advised against threatening, assaulting, or intimidating Gant or his associates, as such actions will be subject to prosecution.

For those seeking further information on registered offenders, the Attorney General’s website offers resources at www.sexoffender.nd.gov/. Additionally, printed handouts detailing Gant’s demographics are available at the Jamestown Police Department.
