VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSU) – The Music Department at Valley City State University will host the senior recital of Alexis Busch, on Saturday, April 6th, at 2:00 pm. Miss Busch will perform on flute and on baritone saxophone, and the recital program consists of music by Johann Joachim Quantz, Katherine Hoover, Valerie Coleman, Newell H. Long, Steven Bryant, and Bill Whelan. Busch will be performing alongside peers Shay Claeys (bari saxophone), Carter Gill (percussion), and VCSU piano faculty Dr. Ozzie Johnson.
Busch is from Wyndmere, ND, and is a junior music education major and has studied flute and baritone saxophone with Dr. Katrina Clements and Dr. Lindsey Wiehl. During her time at the VCSU, Miss Busch has participated in concert band, wind ensemble, athletic band, commercial music ensemble, concert choir, and the National Association for Music Education, and has also had the privilege of conducting the Valley City Community Band. Busch will be student teaching in the Fall of 2025 and graduating that December. After graduation, she plans to teach secondary music in North Dakota.
The recital will be held in the Performance Hall at the VCSU Center for the Arts, with treats during the reception held in the lobby following the performance. Admission to the recital is free, and community members are warmly invited to attend.
