FREMONT, NE – The last-minute trip turned out to be a bad one for University of Jamestown Baseball.

In games originally scheduled for Jamestown but changed due to expected winter weather, the Jimmies lost both ends of a GPAC doubleheader Thursday to Midland 8-3 and 4-3 at Moller Field.

Game 1: Midland 8, Jamestown 3

Jamestown (13-9, 4-1 GPAC) was plagued by six errors in the doubleheader opener.  A 2-2 tie turned into a 7-2 Midland lead after a five-run fifth inning.  The first three runs of the rally scored due to Jimmie errors.

Ryan Muizelaar hit a sacrifice fly and an RBI double for Jamestown.  Chase Burke hit an RBI single.

Luke Zimmer (4-2) pitched the first three and a third innings, allowing two runs and three hits.  Ethan Petty pitched an inning and allowed five runs, only one of which was earned.

Game 2: Midland 4, Jamestown 3

Jacob Liquori drove in the go-ahead run for the Warriors (18-6, 4-2) with an infield hit in the top of the ninth inning.

Jett Nelson had an RBI double for Jamestown (13-10, 4-2).  Muizelaar and Alex Alva hit RBI singles.

Connor Nipp (0-1), the third of four Jamestown pitchers, took the loss.  Starter Cade Torgerson gave up three runs and five hits in five innings.

A doubleheader that had been scheduled for Friday with Briar Cliff in Sioux City was postponed and will be made up at a later date.  Jamestown will play back-to-back doubleheaders against Doane in Crete, Nebraska on March 29 and 30.
