VALLEY CITY, N.D. (LWV) – The League of Women Voters (LWV) of North Dakota and the Valley City Barnes County Public Library are partnering to offer nonpartisan voter information for the 2024 elections.
Local League volunteer Vicki Voldal Rosenau will share information for North Dakota voters at a presentation in the downstairs meeting room at the library on Tuesday, March 19th at 5:30pm. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Topics will include:
● What are North Dakota’s voting requirements?
● Where can voters find nonpartisan information about the candidates and ballot issues?
VOTE411.org, the League of Women Voters’ one-stop-shop for voting and election information, will be highlighted in the presentation. Some of VOTE411’s key features are candidate and statewide ballot measure information, voter ID requirements, absentee ballot information, and a polling place locator. The North Dakota League’s voter guide on VOTE411 will be available in mid-May for the June 11 State Primary election.
In mid-May, voters can enter their address on the VOTE411.org homepage to see the races and candidates that will be on their ballot. The North Dakota Leagues sends candidates 5-6 questions to fill out in their own words, and voters can use VOTE411 to compare candidate responses and learn more about statewide ballot measures.
North Dakota is the only state without voter registration, but in order to vote you are still required to: be a United States citizen and a North Dakota resident; be at least 18 years old on Election Day; have resided in your precinct for at least 30 days; and present a valid voter ID that includes your current residential address.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that envisions a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge, and the confidence to participate. The full interview is below.
