JAMESTOWN – Amber Schaack, the first head coach of University of Jamestown women’s hockey, announced her resignation on Friday. Schaack is pursuing a career in software engineering and her resignation is effective immediately.
Schaack led UJ to a 23-37 record in the first two seasons of the program.
In a news release, Schaack said, “I am excited for the new opportunity that I have been given, but I am going to miss my players and all of those that helped start this program. I can’t thank UJ enough for giving me the chance to bring women’s college hockey to Jamestown. I wish my girls nothing but the best and can’t wait to see them continue to do great things!”
University of Jamestown Athletic Director Austin Hieb said of Schaack: “We could not be more grateful for what Amber has done as the first coach of UJ women’s hockey. The foundation she has put together will serve the university well going forward. She has been an asset to our athletic department and someone I’ve truly enjoyed working with. We wish Amber the best in her next chapter and have no doubt that she will be successful.”
