JAMESTOWN – Since a loss in the GPAC postseason tournament, staff and players of University of Jamestown Women’s Basketball knew that the Jimmies had a very good chance to still make the NAIA Tournament.
That chance became a sure thing on Thursday.
Jamestown will play The Master’s (CA) in the first round on Friday, March 15 at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, one of the 16 hosts of four-team “pods” for first- and second-round games.
Jimmies’ Head Coach Thad Sankey said that he and his team are pleased to have the chance to continue their season.
UJ (17-12) was one of six teams to receive bids from the GPAC, the most of any conference. They are the 12th seed in the Naismith quadrant.
The Master’s (25-6), the fifth seed in the quadrant, won the Golden State Athletic Conference postseason tournament last Saturday, defeating eighth-ranked Vanguard, the tournament’s top seed.
The Jimmies and Mustangs will play at 9:30 PM CDT on Friday, March 15. Preceding that, Lewis-Clark State, the number four seed in the quadrant, will play 13th seed Brewton-Parker College (GA) at 7:30 PM CDT.
