
TUCSON, AZ – University of Jamestown Baseball gained a split with 19th-ranked Benedictine Mesa Tuesday at the Tucson Invitational Games.
The Jimmies rallied to defeat the Redhawks 4-3 in the first game before Benedictine Mesa won the second game 6-4.
Game 1: Jamestown 4, (19)Benedictine Mesa 3
Down 3-2, the Jimmies took the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth. Hayden Brown singled in a run to tie the game, then Jett Nelson singled in the go-ahead run for his second RBI of the game.
Nelson had an RBI groundout and Ryan Muizelaar singled in a run on a two-run fourth for Jamestown (13-3).
Luke Zimmer (3-1) pitched a complete game six-hitter, striking out five.
Game 2: (19)Benedictine Mesa 6, Jamestown 4
Benedictine Mesa scored five runs in the first three innings and the defense struggled for Jamestown (13-4), with four errors.
Chase Burke hit an RBI triple for the Jimmies, who also had an RBI double from Muizelaar, an RBI single by Jackson Bonneville and a Hayden Brown sacrifice fly.
Ryan Radkey (2-1) lost, allowing six runs in three innings. Ethan Petty, Connor Nipp and Brown combined for four innings of scoreless relief.
Jamestown will next play Thursday in a doubleheader against Waldorf.
