
TUCSON, AZ – University of Jamestown Softball continued play in the Tucson Invitational Games Tuesday by splitting a pair of contests.
Jamestown edged Mayville State 5-4, then lost 1-0 to St. Francis (IL).

Samarah Martinez broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Mackenzie Lefebvre gave Jamestown (11-2) their first two runs with a first-inning double. Amanda Burch hit a sacrifice fly in the third.
Sunny Halsey pitched two scoreless innings, then Bristol Foytik (2-1) won by pitching three and a third innings. Hope Ransome earned her second save by pitching the last inning and two thirds.
St. Francis (IL) 1, Jamestown 0
The Jimmies (11-3) didn’t have a hit until the fifth inning and were held to four hits.
Jamestown had the tying run a third in two of the last three innings but could not score.
Hope Ransome (4-1) pitched a complete game, allowing just a run and three hits with three strikeouts.
Jamestown will play Madonna and Benedictine Mesa on Wednesday in Tucson.
