BISMARCK – Sophomore LeeLee Bell had a double double of 19 points and 10 rebounds to help the number one seeded and number one team in the state the Minot Majettes defeat the number nine seeded Jamestown Blue Jays 83-54 in the first round of the 2024 West Region Girls’ Basketball tournament on Thursday afternoon. Minot improves to 20-2 overall and Jamestown falls to 6-17 overall.

Jamestown held close halfway through the first half, down just 15-9 with about eight minutes left. The Majettes closed out the half on a 22-9 run and led 37-18 at the break. The Majettes controlled all of the second half, hitting some big three’s and causing Blue Jays turnovers, they ended the game with 20, Minot just eight. Minot shot 47% from the field and drilled 14 treys, Jamestown shot just 27% from the field, but hit 13 3-pointers. Leading the way for Jamestown was Haley Attleson with 17, including five treys, Adisyn Yunck added 10, Mea Ulland had 11. Mari Anderson had eight points and 12 boards.

The Blue Jays will meet Century in a loser out game on Friday, with coverage on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1, immediately following the Jamestown boys’ loser out game with Legacy.  Coverage of that will begin around 2:30 PM.
