Jamestown, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) defeated Ellendale in the district 2 title game and Linton-HMB (LHMB) and LaMoure-LM (LLM) both won region qualifiers to advance to next weeks Region 1 tournament next week at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Region Qualifier
Linton-HMB (LHMB) Lions 60 Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (MPB) 47
Gentry Richter had a game high 18 points and 4 assists to help lead the Lions to a 60-47 win. Jace Jochim added 16 points, 3 steals, and 10 rebounds. Kashton Moser added 15 points and 7 rebounds for the Lions. MPB was paced by Rylan Wick with 14 points and added 5 rebounds. Gage Magstadt added 8 points and a game high 12 rebounds. Mark Thomas and Gage Hoffman added 6 points for the Thunder. MPB finishes the season 12-10 and LHMB improves to 18-4 and will advance to the Region 1 tournament next week.
Region Qualifier
LaMoure-Litchville-Marion (LLM) Loboes 44 South Border (SB) 42
Max Musland scored a game high 25 points and added 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. Blase Isaacson and Gunner Thielges added 7 points each. Thielges added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Kaden Bader scored 14 points for the Mustangs and added 3 rebounds. Trevor Schmidt scored 13 points and added a game high 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Levi Buchholz added 9 points for the Mustangs. SB season ends with a 9-13 overall record and the Loboes improved to 13-9 and will advance to the Region 1 tournament next week.
Championship
EKM Rebels 72 Ellendale Cardinals 45
Relentless pressure applied by the EKM Rebels defense forced 22 Ellendale Cardinal turnovers and a 28-0 advantage in points off turnover in favor of the Rebels. The Rebels had an incredibly low 3 turnovers. Ellendale would stay within 10 points going to the fourth quarter despite the turnovers, trailing 49-39. The final quarter would be a one sided contest with the Rebels outscoring the Cardinals 23-6 and nailing down the District 2 title 72-45. Jacob Nitschke would score a game high 20 points and added a game high 8 rebounds leading a balanced Rebel offense. Joe Kramlich would add 15 points, 5 rebounds, and a game high 4 steals. Kramlich’s overall defensive pressure frustrated the Cardinals throughout the game. Zeke Barnick added 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Brad Kinzler added 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Austin Strobel added 6 points, 6 rebounds. and a game high 4 assists. Jack Bommersbach led the Cardinals with 15 points. Mason Molan added 12 points (4-3 pointers) and 7 rebounds. Kade Schimke added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Anton Geller chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Cardinals. Ellendale dropped to 14-8 overall and will be the number 2 seed from district 2 and EKM improved to 19-3 and will be the tp seed from district 2 in the Region 1 tournament next week.
